This bull is a June 2013 born calf out of a first calf heifer.  He was approximately 60lbs when he was born and they might have been soaking wet.  I guess that is what happens when he as Ali in his lineage 3 times.  My nephew showed his dam in Utah and Wyoming as was very successful.

He looks like Ali. Similar in proportion and type. He would really work on some cattle that have a very different genetics profile. Maybe even 1/2 Maines out of outcross Maine genetics. I bet Angus cows would be super.

Thank for the input.  We really like him and his mamma.  We have him for sale just because we have his sire and really don't need two calving ease bulls. If we don't move him we wouldn't feel too bad about keeping him, we will get more sleep when the heifers calve if they are bred to him and his daddy. We think he will sire similar to his dad, small BW but grow to be stout, chuncky, hair clubbys

I think I would like more info before I could concider him a CE bull.  Just beacuse he is out of an Ali son and weighed 60lbs, out of a first calve heifer, at birth doesnt in my opinion make him CE.

This calf's sire is double bred Ali and double bred Slick 50.  Slick 50 is a son of WD 40 and WD 40 is a son of Witch Doctor.  This calf's dam was about a 50lb calf out of a first calf heifer.  She (the calf's granddam) was bred to a calving ease bull and she is out of a calving ease bull who is the son of Ali.  This calf has several generations of calving ease in his bloodline.

I am now curious to know what you all think makes a good calving ease bull.  Calving Ease for show cattle. Don't tell me the EPDs because numbers can all be manipulated.  A feed program can be a factor into how big a calf is at birth.  So can Environment, time of year, illness, etc.  I think this would be a great topic and one that can get a lot of input.
