‘Cap and Trade' has enraged many ranchers and farmers.
“This legislation has the potential to devastate the agricultural community with higher operating costs and destroy ways of life in rural America.”
- Rob Goodlatte, House Agricultural Committee

CattleGrower.com has formed a petition against this legislation.

The petition will be PRINTED and mailed to:
- Every United States Senator
- The Department of Agriculture

For a short video on the issue, or to join the petition, please use this link:

After talking with many Congressmen and Senators on "the Hill" this week, I am absolutely convinced that the "Cap and Trade Bill" or as it is euphemistically called the "Climate Change Bill" will accomplish very little, perhaps nothing, but will cost every taxpayer a great deal.  The "Blue Dog Democrats" didn't vote for it and many other Democrats are against it as well but don't dare vote that way because they fear repraisals in their districts on other bills.  They're just hoping the Senate defeats it!!

One of the provisions of the bill is that before you can sell a home you must bring everything in it up to California energy conservation standards--in other words, new furnace, new windows, more insulation, perhaps new siding and roof.  This would be true no matter where you live.  Also you would need to pay more in taxes for a pickup,  light duty truck, or van that did not meet the emissions and mileage standards recently inacted.  In other words, if you need a truck with enough horsepower to do anything you'll be paying what amounts to a user or luxury tax on it and be forced to buy carbon credits to run it!!    Wouldn't that be great for farmers, ranchers, and other small businesses??  Who knows what else is hidden in the 1,000 pages that most of the representatives have not even read!!  Defeating this bill is important--Please throw your full support behind this effort and contact your representatives however you can!!

Our youngest just graduated. If we could figure out somewhere outside of the U.S. where we could move and take our cows with us I think we would seriously consider it. It's just so damn sad how fast it's all going to hell.

We signed our name to this petition several days ago.  This bill would not only shut down the agricultural community, it would pretty much paralyze the rest of the country with it.  I don't know where all this is going or when they will get it stopped, but it is down right scary!

Its symbolism over substance. Its generational theft. It will be interesting to see if the Democrats have the guts to bankrupt the U.S.A in a 6 month spending spree that has amazed the world. If the free health care goes through it is over. Lets see if the Democrats have the guts to do the sucicidal move for "the chilren". The tax and spend deal will send the economy in the toliet. Farmers and ranchers are landowners and they will always be on a socialist hit list. This stuff is monumental. We have a community organizer that has never had a job or met a payroll in his life and he is going to spend 3 trillion dollars in one year of saving the world. Ronald Reagens space shield program cost 3.5% of what of what Jesus Christ is about to spend. Will the Democrats have the guts to pull this thing off. How would you like to have your name on the vote that sent the U.S.A. economy in a massive crash that historians will talk about for the next hundred years(hopefully we survive that long). Spend baby spend. Its no ones money just the governments(they have alot of money). When you screw up an economy it is screwed up. I guess you can always blame Bush....yaa...thats it.

most progressives don't believe in the concept of money.  i personally don't know one who does.  subsidy and protection ruin the lubricant called money.

Knabe I thought I would apply. But since I am just an alien and not an illegal alien (besides I vote republican, how boring is that?) I don't stand a chance.

Just remember Cap & Trade is political correct speak for TAX EVERYONE!

They way to fight this is for Oakbar to run for congress and Knabe to run for Senate next year. Even if they don't win, if they can put a scare into the *&#$!!! in Washington and state capitals it will send a message.

barney frank allowed a prostitution ring to be run out of his house.  i'm a little more high brow than that.  i need a committed relationship and i don't think barney is capable of that.  as soon as someone accumulates an asset or feelings, he dumps them.

we probably wouldn't see eye to eye on taxes as i want everyone to pay the same tax on every transaction as a price for providing lubrication.

the more you transact, the more tax you pay.

if you just divided someone who say sold/earned 100,000 and paid 10,000 versus say 10 people who sold/earned 10,000 each, the 10 people would probably get a tax break because they are so poor and would reduce revenue to the government.

the trouble starts as SOON as you treat people different.  then, you rely on rules changing all the time to create price vacuums to make money, hence lobbyists etc.  new laws guarantee new revenue.

but for some reason, people don't like being treated the same.

i would want rich people transacting as often as possible, not only to provide jobs, but revenue to the government, rather than changing rates.  you get more money increasing the number of transactions than you do by increasing rates, especially targeted rates.

like proabition...the only ones making "real" money...is illegal money...or now..liars money...as long as we continue to "lubricate" the illegal trades...drugs/prostituion/gambling/illegal labor ...  and the working folks continue to have to fill that tax void, we're not going anywhere...hows about change the color of money??....everyone just " cash in"....where would the cartels be then?...

i'm saying lubricate the working folks transactions and make it easier for the working folks to be the hiring folks.

for some reason, you want to be a working folk.

i am  just fine as a working folk... i like it....ive done it so long....i actually enjoy it.. ;)...i prefer the more " social enterprenural" side of my life...like maybe be around to see us use natural gas for a while instead of oil....or more importantly the jobs it will create,in the natural gas industry....wind generation....i want to live to see them turn, i want to watch us build them...mass transit...i want to live to see us get smart and connect lesser accessible areas with tracks and see new towns start to sprout up  in between...i wanna see young men and women start to rebuild our dams/levies/ and rural bridges...i wanna see hospitals and clinics built in population proportion, not " the mayors brother owns the piece of property " proportion.....thats what makes the world go round for me...call me old fashion..jbarstilskin

or more importantly the jobs it will create,in the natural gas industry....wind generation, oil creates jobs too, so does nuclear, there you go again, choosing for others, i thought only dictators did that, oh wait, if you just have a cool name like obama instead of hitler...

.i want to live to see them turn, i want to watch us build them why don't you build it.  it currently does not make economic sense, otherwise people would be doing it, i've researched costs for the last 5 years, and it never ads up, it's always a negative...

mass transit great, i can take mass transit to a cattle sale

..i want to live to see us get smart and connect lesser accessible areas with tracks remove the regulations like EIR, oh wait, if its' the government, you already do

and see new towns start to sprout up  in between.with subsidies of course.

.i wanna see young men and women start to rebuild our dams/levies/ and rural bridges, can't do it, EIR..

.i wanna see hospitals and clinics built in population proportion, not " the mayors brother owns the piece of property proportion.because that's just so bad.  you won't get off your but to be an employer, but rankle those who do just because they are elected, typical.you just want to transfer ownership to the "laborers" and not have any employers..

thats what makes the world go round for me...call me old fashion.no, progressive.jbarstilskin

old fashion is doing, not want others to do.
