How is his calving ease on heifers?  I know he is a proven bull, and some of you must have calving experience with him.  I have some Angus x Hereford F1 heifers to breed, and I am considering using him.  However, I normally would only use CE Angus bulls.  A live calf, and healthy heifer ready to cycle and breed back in short order, is my first concern and goal.

The Carpe Deims  do calve pretty easy so far , some people complain they don't have enough but , so if you want a show calf get a big butted cow ..Other wise he should work on heifers ... The Snazzy bull was out of a heifer though ....

I have two carpe diem bull calves, both out of first calf heifers.  They are really nice with plenty of butt and one has a ton of hair.  Very gentle, attractive calves. I  would sure use him again on heifers.

RE: Pretty Snazzy Bull

I normally do not use "unproven" crossbred calving ease bulls on heifers.  There are just too many variables in muti-breed sires to use on heifers.  IMHO  In my earlier years, I tried many of the so called "calving ease", clubby or crossbred bulls.  Seldom to my liking or acceptability.  Most of my cows are at least F1's or crosses and have too much birth weight genetics behind them.  Also, I feed my cows "to good" by many cattlemen's opinion.  If these same "easy calving crossbred bulls", were used on straight Angus or Hereford heifers, perhaps they would calve fine.  However, we all need to choose sires that complement our cows.  That is why I now routinely use low birth weight EPD Angus bulls on my heifers.  That is not to say that I may not occasionally "try" another bull.  Such is the case with my questions concerning Carpe Diem.

He might not put a freaky front on them but he sure helps them some...Calves are kinda like Troubdors ,look better with age ... The Troubador  bull has potential to be a heifer bull  an he will definitely make them pretty fronted'  We use a purebred Charolais bull we raised on some of our clubby females an have had great sucess ....Speaking of Carpe Deim  he has a super son out that  is blackwhiteface  called PRETTY SNAZZY  ,SAW him in DENVER an me an lots of other people liked him a lot ...
