If you can afford them, they are some pretty good deals in there sale, look at the breds every year for sure.  And to this day I can honestly say I have never met a better group of people in the cattle business.  My wife and I have not done that much business with them over the years but they are the friendliest, most honest, and helpfull people you can get involved with.  They will bend over backwords to help you out and I have never had anyone that will back up there cattle like they will.  I have ran into a few minor problems and they go out of there way to try to make up for it, even if it wasn't anything that they did or could have prevented.  I know I will probably catch a LOT of grief for saying this, as being as sucessful as they have been people like to try to bring the down at every chance, but so be it.

I will also echo this statement. Cates are really good people and are unmatched when it comes to understanding how to make powerful shorthorn show cattle. They have always taken care of me also as a customer. One of the best purchases I ever made was from Cates when I bought CF Star Bucks. That was a good buy.
Usually the heifers average around $ 10,000 but that is because of a couple of really high sellers. I'd say you could find one for under $7,000 that could win a class or division at Louisville or wherever. It happens every year there.
