CF Star Bucks semen is now available through Genetic Horizons SEK Genetics in Galesburg, Kansas. www.sekgenetics.com or 1-800-443-6389. The price is now $25 per unit. I believe this bull is going to do some pretty awesome things. A lot of maternal strength. I have included a picture of a 2011 heifer sired by Star Bucks along with his yearling picture. This heifer's momma is a purebred red/white Maine Anjou sired by a Fullblood Maine. If you are interested please contact SEK or you can pick some up from me if you live in the area, etc.

How have his birth weights been?  Is he heifer friendly?  Very nice bull.

I would not say that he is heifer friendly. I personally have bred him to a couple of heifers that will calve this fall so I will find out then. This heifer calf pictured is one of the only calves I know to be born and it is my wife's uncle's calf. She was around 100 lbs and that is why I wouldn't recommend him on heifers. I still believe that his birthweights will be decent since this year's bw's have been abnormally high due to a cold winter.  He says it 's his best calf and he has a lot of AI calves. Mostly K&A Nautica, Gigolo joe, and Sin City.Unfortunately, I have had a lot of issues AI'ing to anything the last two years which I think is due to too much protein in the pasture so I was unable to get any AI'd to him last year and put my bull out really early to get calves coming. Thanks for the comments.

Wanted to include this picture from Denver. Star Bucks was right around 1100 lbs if I remember correctly. He was different than most anything there. Not a lot of lookers on the hill, but a lot of lookers after he went in the ring. That was a great trip, I thought we almost had Res. Natl Champ.

Contact Genetic Horizons SEK Genetics or Cattle Visions for semen. $25 unit

We have had two CF Star Bucks bull calves in the last week and we are very pleased with them. I got this picture out in the pasture today of this bull calf. He was born about 5 days ago to a second calver. Bloodstone Dream Maker we got from Cates last year. He was 88 lbs, born unassisted and nursed unassisted. The other bull calf was born early this morning to a Jake's Proud Jazz daughter (Cherry cow family). She took forever to finally go into stage 2 labor and we ended up assisting her because of my paranoia with a 77 lb bull calf. Calf got up and nursed on it's own. Calves seem to be balanced and very eye appealing at first glance. Not too heavy of bone for newborns but the verdict will still be out on using him on heifers after this morning. Overall, I couldn't be much happier unless they were heifer calves, in which I think that heifer would have had no problem on her own. I do think we will have some herd sire prospects though!

Two more Star Bucks calves born this morning. One is a black fuzzy bull calf out of a purebred Maine Anjou cow. 95 lbs.  Looks like the best calf she has ever had. The other is out of one of our best Maine Anjou cows (red) and it is a heifer. Oh man, I am excited about his one. Seeing her made my day. 95 lbs, big boned, thick, almost all red with some white marks. She will be a 7/8 Shorthorn. Picture of this heifer coming soon!

Here is the Star Bucks heifer that was born a few days ago out of the purebred Maine cow by K&A Shakedown. Calves are averaging 88lbs. We had a heifer give birth last night unassisted to a 86lb Star Bucks heifer.
