Clipping for cow-calf class

How do most of you clip the head - neck of suckling steer calves. Will be showing 2 steer calves with mamas at the county fair. Do you just shave the heads and leave the neck ( from ears back to shoulder) long, or slick the neck like a heifer. I think ours look better with some longer, but slightly trimmed hair on the neck and shaved head to the ears. Thanks for any info.

I wouldn't slick it , never looks right on those babies ,unless they are really fat and mature looking,it looks like a skinned cat. I would block in the top of the neck as good as you can.

I agree with mooch, calves dont really have the front end meat at this early stage and can really look funny if you go to slicking that front end.
