What kind of computers do you have/use?

I got a Mac book pro about a month ago and absolutely love it!

I was just wondering what other SP members use!!

iMac desk top.  Love it!  Had to replace one video card in 3 and 1/2 years.  No other problems.  No virus's. No melt downs, no nothing.

Great for our photo and video editing.  The kids have no problems doing school work bouncing back and forth between the schools PC system and the Mac.

I wouldn't go back to the PC days again.

Mac's are flawless imo. They run so fast..From what I understand you don't need a virus protection program(which is awesome), is that your experience?

I have used just about every apple product there is (iMac, iPad, Ipod, iphone) I recently got a Droid phone just because i wanted to expand my horizons and I can honestly say I do not regret it one bit. I liked it so much I sold my I pad for a android tablet and I love that too. As far as cps go I used one evey day at either school or my grandmas last year and I always thought it was okay. Yes apple products are very user friendly and are easy to learn and navgate. But there is no hacking, editing whatever you want to call it that you can do.Macs all run on the same programs for the most part, like your anti virus program. I guess I feel like every PC I have used has more "personality" or the potential to make it have one. I used to be a die hard apple fan but not anymore,I have a doird phone, android tablet and a PC and I wouldn't change it! And one last hing I just thought about, apples cloud isn't near as good as Google/Microsoft.

I def bought microsoft for my mac book pro..im not even sure what cloud is.
I will also agree that you can personalize a PC more and change more things. But i've also run into more problems with them as far as getting slow and sluggish.

My dad has had a mac book for 5 years now and it still runs the same as when he got it. On my dell i've blown my hard drive and only had it 2 years and it wasn't your cheap $600 PC

My IT Tech at the USDA says hands down Dells are the way to go...  It's what we the feds use and rely on... Can't beat it...

I had an old gateway labtop, which finally got retired.. was a GREAT PC.  I also have an old Dell desktop that we use for records-- it's a stud.. a little slow but still does the work.

Just bought a Sony a year ago.. biggest POS I've ever had.. Crashed 2 times, lights don't work, keys don't work, mouse doesn't work, terrible customer service, and a ton of annoying emails and surveys.. I finally quit on the damn thing...  I've already mailed it back in 3 times....  Now it's just a surfing computor...

I wouldn't say that... most of the PC our IT works on and talks about are older than snot--  I (and one of our engineers) just got a "brand' new one (newest one in the office).. and it's already a version old...

I'm just going off what my dad said, every office is probably different though.

every office, every agency, every state....  I work for the USDA- NRCS but our IT guy is in charge of 17 or 18 counties, both NRCS and FSA...  I think there are now 4 or 5 IT people for the entire state of IL now for both us and FSA.

that's what i thought.  i used to be on the RCD board for my county for a while and they didn't do anything either except hand out grant money to their spouses for native plant strips.

They actually did the exact opposite for my dad! He used to live 3 mins from work, but they restructured the rural dev. a couple years ago now and he drives a hour both ways! which kinda sucks but he retires here soon so its all good now lol
