I have an 8000 btu cooling unit for sale. Would be excellent for some one building their own cooler, or an exhisting cooler that needs more cold air. Good unit out of a walkin cooler. RW

I dont believe 8000 btu will work for a 12 by 12 by 9 foot tall cool room

I have a insulated cool room with one steer and 10k unit and IT only gets to 68 when it is 80-85 out

When I use the cool room this summer I will be adding another 10k unit

12,000 btu = 1 ton of cooling

When you have 2/3 of a ton at 100 degree it is VERY HARD TO Cool the room down to 55-60 degree with 8k

I have been going through the owners manual trying to make sure of the size of this unit. Was told it was 8000 btus. I do know it would easily freeze water in an 8 by 16 room, but you also have to factor in the heat put off by the animals. RW

When you go get a 8k unit in lowes or home depot

THIS IS NOT ENOUGH to cool a 12 x 12 room


WHY I HAVE TRIED

Please trust me when it was 80-90 out it only got to about 70 in the room

  The R value of the cool room would have a big part in whether or not you could cool it. The floors R value needs to be considered also. When they talk about "a ton or, tons of coolant" they're not talking about the body wt. of the calves in the cooler. Brent

We have a 12 by 12 room with concrete floor and 4 insulated walls with r19 abd ceiling is r19 and the 10k cooler does not get cold enough

My neighbors have a old house on their property and they converted one room in to a cooler all they have is a window unit that was in the house and it works fine. You could tell a difference in 2 weeks. It was dark and had 1 fan and ran at about 65° in there. I've heard that if you run it below 60° your wasting money. I've also heard that you put on the same amount of hair at 60° as opposed to 40°.
