Couple of beginners questions

Yeah...he was a steer. I sold him to a guy in Louisiana for his daughter to show, then he ended up backing out on the deal. The calf ended up in a feedlot in Nebraska. I have a full sister to him that's solid red...she has her first calf on the ground this fall. The ol' blue roan cow is an 878 daughter and as good as any in our cow herd type-wise. A buddy and I are thinking about flushing her this winter. I REALLY want another heifer out of her before she retires on me. She's nine years old and she's had one heifer.
