cow hocked

have very green calf that is slightly cow hocked. can this get better as he gets on feed. can hoof trimming help it or fix it?

If you can find a good hoof trimmer they can do wonders.  We have some that grow out of it.  If it is a slight deal you will probably be fine.

Structure is important to any show project. Sometimes corrective hooftrimming will work, however, is it worth the gamble if the problem is too extreme?

If you have a good hoof trimmer, I would totally recommend doing a corrective trimming on a calf.  The younger they are, the softer their bones and cartilage is.  You can make more impact from one hoof trimming at 4 months of age vs. 4 hoof trimmings of a calf over a year old.  There is also much less chance of crippling a calf if corrected slightly as a young calf vs a lifetime of corrections once the bones have started to calcify.
