I have a cow that is over due by a week.  I typically don't worry but she typically has big calves and I don't want to be pulling a 130 pounder, I did that five or so years ago with a different cow.  Wait and let nature take its course?  Or what do you all do to induce?  No bull so later due date is not a possibility, all AI here.

Palpate front feet should be right there,  dewclaws up, backwards, if front hoof is much bigger than your wrist,  probably a large bull calf.  That also depends on your wrist. Make your decision from there.

If you decide to induce. You give 20cc Dex. You can also give 5cc Lutelyse. The Lute can help with retained placenta. The Dex alone will induce her. 32 hours after shot should be when she calves.

Last year we induced a cow who was 3 weeks late because she was showing signs of viral pneumonia. This year she calved 2 weeks late and had a 110lb heifer, but both times she calved unassisted. She's not a small cow though.

i was in the same boat as you 2 weeks ago, vet told me i should induce at a week overdue, but with all the google searching i did and the horror stories i heard i let her go and i was going to wait til 2 weeks over to induce, well in the middle of the night on day 8 she calved. its your call though, every cow is different

Had a cow last yr go past her AI due date by 2 weeks, figured the bull must have got her,but the calf was definitely not by my bull.

Thanks for all the suggestions.  I opted to wait and she calved a big bull calf between my two hour checks.  Calf was up an nursing when I got there.  I tried to attach pictures but no luck, files were too big.
