Thanks for the update AJ, as expected however, another SLAP on the wrist. Most likey -- his cows will still die, albeit a few months later than they probably would have.

This makes me sick -- good thing I am not the judge -- unless there was a catastrophy with that guy -- I would have have done more than fine him a few thousand bucks. Just don't understand why the law can't get serious about thier jobs -- just tells the others who wold do this that it won't matter much, so to heck with it!

Like you said -- it is what it is, I doubt if this will get the point across to him -- he'll just have to cut back on the beer for a couple months instead of doing time!

Did they take the cows away??? Most likely not -- keep us posted pard!

No problem Terry. The biggest problem was that the dead cows were not posted for cause of death. So it was impossible for the judge to have "beyond reasonable doubt". So if any one runs into this situation its worth noting. I'm not big on big brother telling me how to feed my cows but thats the end of the story anyway. There is a sheriff that actually checks cows like twice a week and he is a pretty good ole boy...so the situation is on their radar anyway.

Felt I needed to make a couple comments here!

I know there are allot of folks reading this post. This is not to justify a negligent feed manager. This is to shed some light on my own personal experience.

DO NOT depend on the "mectin" family of dewormers! There is parasite resistance common to theses wormers! And, don't assume you are in a liver fluke free area.

I'm sure there are those reading these posts that have "non-thrifty" cows, and don't know why! Get them tested now! You can not feed past persistant parasite infestation! This heart-breaking scenario could be in your own back yard.

Yes, it's bad when your wife files for divorce, puts you on a restraining order from your kids, ties up your assets, your tractor breaks down, and hay is too high, and you want to crawl in a hole and hide. But, it can be worse, your cows could be persistently infected with "mectin" resistant parasites.

Good point Elbee. This was briefly brought up. I hadn't heard much about resistence deal. Really in this case back here I thought the judge did all he could do. Good luck to you Lee. If there is anything I can do let me know.
