I have done the same thing and used a new bull called Steel Smokin and have some great calves!  We have had people already wanting to buy them. You should go to the website and check them out at steelsmokinbull.com . All the calves on there are bull calves and there will be some heifer pics up soon. All the calves are also out of full blood angus cows!  HE IS WORKING!!!!!!
