Curly calf hair

We have a show calf that we have been working with and working hair for about a month. The calf has hair that seems to have tight curl. Not wavy and course, finer and small curls. It’s an angus calf and we have used a shedding comb early, scotch combs and rice root. How do folks deal with this?  The calf has a couple 2-3 inches of hair. Is clipping the way?  Looking for ideas. Thanks.

ok. maybe try some relax from sullivans. and training the hair a little more. but it looks good though!
