show heifer.  i used to have a ration with corn, oats, barley. beet pulp, hulls, liquid fat, molasses, vitamin A D E, protein,  and it came out to be 14% protein, and would get any animal fat, and keep them as full looking as you could ever want, i dont remember the exacts but i got a local feed mil working on it now

You need more corn to get one fat.  Check out my ration on the SP Hall of Fame.  It should work for you want it to do.............if you do everything else right.

We just went through this trying to cheapen a ration ($$$).

Our best ration and still as cheap as we can get is using Purina Grand T fortifier,  it will have the fat, minerals and vitamins to.

Our grower is 40% corn, 40% oats, 20% fortifier.  As they need increases---  we increase the corn percentage up to 60%corn, 20% oats, 20% fortifier and this is our finisher.    Always maintain 20% fortifier.

We can get oats at $16 a hundred, fortifier is $19.99 a fifty and seems to keep going up, home raised corn.    Tried to get some where close with soybean meal and soy oil for the fat and still seemed to be cheaper with the fortifier.

any how-  hope this helps and have a good one

Maybe 10.5

Several hundred SP members using it.  The ration is less than half of the feed equation.  Success is more about your Feed Program.

While I appreciate the fact that hundreds and hundreds of people are using your ration, I think it is a mistake and over-simplification to think "one ration fits all."

47% corn
20% oats
15% protein supplement 32%
5% hulls
5% beet pulp
1% liquid fat
1% vitamin A,D,E
5% molasses
1% barley
this is what I fed to some harder doing shorthorn heifers in the past and they did very well, they stay very full looking on this. Some people like more corn, but it all depends on what your feeding and what they need, no calf is the same, or feeds the same, good luck to all and hpe they eat whatever it is you feed.
