I have a question for the Shorthorn people on here. I have a shorty mostly white. She is getting a bit of lice. On all my other cattle I always use cydectin wormer (the purple stuff) because it didn't burn their skin like the alcahol based pour on wormers. I had never though about it till I started to put it on her, does it stain the white hair purple? Anybody have any experience with this let me know. We have a show in a couple weeks and I want a purple ribbon for my son but not a purple heifer. ;D
Thanks
HH

You can use injectable Ivermectin or Ivomec. It is used for parasitic infections.(Lice is one)

try it orally, or injectable on her if your worried....  I have had mixed results with purple pour on...  one time it will stain them, one time it won't...

Last time I used some blue ivomec pour on...  it stained for over a month...

i believe there is also an injectable cydectin (moxidectin) on the market available now too...  but any injectable macrolade (ivermect and moxidect are both this) would be fine w/o a purple/ blue stain. i guess i never thought of staining! all my cattle are black
