Dad bought a steer calf from the sale barn HELP!

Ok so my dad bought a steer calf from the sale barn that evidently hasn't been castrated very long ago or at least I would assume. I went down to look at him yesterday when my dad fed and I got to looking at his scrotom or what would be and noticed a place where it looks like it's still open and the cord end is poking out a bit. The calf eats, drunks and acts just fine like is wrong, my question is should we be concerned? Is this something that may not be a problem now but could be soon enough? What should we do to help this calf cause my dad is just gonna fatten him up to eat. He's probably 4 to 5 months old.

I feel like a big Ol dummy since all I post on here are help posts. But I've seen how much you guys can offer experience and help wise that I just feel comfortable asking here. My dad snapped a pic if the calf's scrotum before he sprayed it with iodine. Just so you guys could see whT I'm talking about. It looks like someone only cut a small hole and pulled the testicles out, it's warm but not fever hot to the touch and he doesn't act sore.

If you are concerned about it I would just band him. It will stop blood flow from going to the scrotum and the whole thing will fall off in a few weeks

Check his temp.  He's probably fine.  It's not uncommon for a little fat to protrude from the scrotum after a calf has been castrated.

I would give him a tetanus shot in case it was not given at castration.

We did we gave him the tetnus antitoxin

I've just never seen one heal up like that so it worried me a bit just from the looks of it..... so everyone says so long as the calf is eating and drinking, not sickly or running a fever to not worry about it?
