just grabbed a flier yesterday about hormone free, custom corn-fed beef on feed free choice for 240-300 days priced at $3.50 pound hanging weight.

marbling looked akin to some of the kobe products i have sampled.  carcasses were choice and prime.

genetics were angus crosses.

anyone heard of anything similar in terms of number of days exposed to corn?

Sounds about like one fed for the same period as a show calf, but maybe not quite as long (show calves are usually on full feed right at a year).

Our commercial calves go into the feedlot in early July around 650 lbs and get killed around February.  I guess the feedlot is a little shorter, but not much.

forgot to mention they were slaughtered at 13 to 15 months age.

240 - 300 days/30 equals 8-10 months meaning they went on free choice corn feed at 5-7 months.

seemed like it was about 60 days longer than a normal program, especially if backgrounded.
