A good friend of mine raises a small herd of purebred polled herefords. He has some absolutely steller heifers out of the bull
Boyd Worldwide 9050.  I am trying to get some pics this week.

Kids want to try a hereford one year.  What do you think breeding some of these girls down the road to Deadliest catch?  Where can I find some of his calves or are they not on the ground yet?

Deadliest Catch isn't a purebred so depending on where your at it would just be a hereford marked calf and not eligible to be registered or anything like that. There are several good hereford bull out there that will produce some dang good steers if they are wanting a hereford.

Good point.  These girls are already huge hipped, big boned and deep ribbed. What would be some good suggestions as far as possibilities with these Worldwide calves as far as PB hereford?  Thanks for the help.

I think at best there may be calves born this coming spring out of him. By Hereford I assume you meant hereford colored, with a little club calf push behind them, have to wait and see how his calves look, it might just be the ticket. I know most shows the steers just need to be colored like a Hereford to class as a Hereford. To me that is fine since all parties know the rules going into the show. In California, the jackpots have an English division, so you show Herefords, Angus, and Shorthorn's against each other, they just have to class by characteristics.

Good point. I guess we are looking for the hereford markings/color than necessarily being registered.  To be down right honest, the only reason I'm researching is my little girl (age 10) had a heart to heart with me telling me "Dad I don't want a black steer this year, I want something different".  So here I am; she has a hereford out of the Worldwide bull and my boy has a cream / smokey colored calf.  About as far from black as we could get.  New challenge for us I guess.

I guess it just depends where you are in the Midwest it has to have papers and be purebred.  The DNA type the winners. I know in the south they just have to class. I guess it depends where you are and how far you want to go showing. Many of the purple reign bulls produce show calves and I just saw a good crossfire steer yesterday. Hard drive has worked for some also. I had a nice Cyrus steer last year. There are many options. I think cattle visions has quite a bit of Hereford semen to give you a starting point to look.

We had a great hereford heifer out of and About Time cow bred to Purple Milsap. This calve had it all, she had that clubby look to her. On the down side though she had a 115 lb birth weight so I wouldnt suggest using him on heifers. Anohter hereford marked bull you might consider is Carpe Diem .
