Happy Thanksgiving, everyone --

Here's a segment about the Chicago Ampitheatre, home to some of the greatest livestock shows in the mid-20th Century.

The entire "I Am Angus" program airs tomorrow night at 9 Central on RFD-TV.

Thanks again for watching!

Thanks for posting.  I only showed at Chicago once, I believe it was the last year the International was held in 1976, maybe.  I had senior champion Shorthorn bull.  Much of the luster had been lost by the time I showed there, I suppose, but I was still awestruck by the history of the arena and surrounding area.  I can still taste the "sizzling steak" from the nearby eatery.  I think I recognized Herman Purdy standing behind one of the steers, I imagine it was a champion he had just named.  Herman was one of my favorite judges back in the day and I still remember when he showed PS Nonpareil 27 to the championship of the Polled Shorthorn female show.  I think I've got the heifer's name right.  It's only been nearly 50 years!  We really looked forward to getting the Shorthorn World in the mail and fought over who got to read the International show report first.  Back then, the magazine was printed twice a month.  I could hardly wait for two weeks to go by.  Thanks again.

just for reference, did anyone see the shorthorn with the forward slipping pastern?  could just be the surface, but the others in the group appeared not to have them.
