So we have 3 MAB * 805 bulls to pick from now? Plus other 805 sons.

Interesting to see the videos posted of In God We Trust and Hawkeye as calves. Nice to see them as they look on the cow.

Also appears as though the bull business is almost as tight knit on the owner side as on the bull side.

Anyone heard anything about Smith Built from Lautner?

That's probably true that a lot of bulls are owned by a few but I believe that there are just as good of bulls working as clean up bulls in a lot of pastures around the country.

You for sure can't trust advertising anymore.  Just a couple of weeks ago someone used a pic of a calf I raised as the offspring of a cow he was selling in a sale.  I haven't sold his dam, so I'm sure this guy doesn't have her to sell.  In this day and age of social media, people are going to catch you being shady and call you out, but it doesn't seem to stop them!

Can't wait for bull pics to roll in, looking forward to seeing them myself at the stud.

Anyon seen 2nd to none from last year? Anyone got some calves coming?

Agree, no longer a single place to gather info without cattle.com vids

I think I'm going to go back to the last 5 or so years and look at what was said about the bulls in Denver and which ones have stuck around or fell off the earth.

There are always a lot of great bulls in Denver but to really evaluate a bull then see how well his offspring are doing.

After looking today a few bulls stood out to me. In terms of making competitive fat steers, I feel that Exit 40 will surely have a place. He's super thick, powerful, and yet not too coarse. In terms of making show heifers, I really liked the looks of Black Power Play. I feel he'll be underused his rookie season because he's not necessarily overwhelming in a given area. However, he's stout enough, square hipped, and shaped right. I'd like to see him stouter footed.

Semen is not yet available on this one yet, but he is in Denver, stalled with Winegardner.  Great genetics here, already on the waiting list.  Who da Man x Ace, so they will be really high percentage chi

I agree with BroncoFan for a number reasons, progeny is what makes our decision on the bulls to use.  That being said, we look at the sires/dams of the bulls that make it on display as  well as an indicator of what it working.  Being in Canada, we don't get too many "new" bulls from display in Denver until the following year and by that time, some progeny is already on the ground in the US to help us make our decisions.

As suggested on here, look back by using the search feature and typing in Denver 2010, Denver 2012, etc... to see what bulls are still around and being used successfully.  It's a very small percentage of those bulls that have any staying power and that could be for a variety of reasons.

In looking at bull lists from the past, there are a few bulls that were barely mentioned, but have made an impact and of course the opposite with bulls that were garnering all the attention, but faded quickly.

I'm just as guilty as the next guy in using the next best thing and have mixed results.

The problem with the next best thing is it could easily turn into the next worst thing. If you have a couple hundred cows and use 30-40 straws of the latest greatest you still have plenty of cows left for the proven bulls so if the new stud turns to a dud there's still a good size calf crop.  If you have 20 and breed all new bulls you could SOL in a hurry.  I'll let the big number ranches prove the bulls out for me.
