This isn't cattle related but I thought I'd throw it out and try.  Needing a disc chisel, prefer pull type, and wonder how many shanks and width a 145 horse tractor can handle.  I've heard 10 horse per shank but that seems a little low.

It depends on the spacing and size of shovel, we run an 11 shank with 4 inch twisted cupped shovels. It takes close to 20 horse per shank. Our 210 horse tractor (dualed, weighted, and front wheel assist) pulls it just fine. We run it 10 inches deep and 6 mile an hour. Speed is a big factor in how good of job you can do as well.  Hope this helps! Good luck
