We've been a little slow on getting good heats from our cows. Then wham bam one comes in heat & the others follow. Is there a trend that they get in sync w/ each other?

I know studies have been done that female room mates tend to follow a similar pattern when living together for a while.

Any thoughts?

I think cattle synching themselves is very similar to the roommate situation. We do nearly all natural service, and have a pretty spread out calving season. But, it seems that we usually have a handful born at the same time then a space then a handful more. Like they got bred around the same time, then calved around the same time.

If I remember correctly, I thought that you said that you don't hear very well.  Now we know the real story, you pretend not to hear very well. LOL.

According to the repro professor at Kansas State, Cattle do not have the ability to sync themselves. Rats do, but I don't think that helps any of us...lol :). Guess that is why the synchronization drugs are so popular in the cattle industry.

If we really wanted to kick some butt in Iran we would develop a special force unit of amazon women and attach them to 101st or 82nd airborne divison. If we could synchronize them and cut them loose on d-day(or pms day) there would not be a stone unturned or a tree not burned down it the area! ;D ;D ;D

I think most women would agree with me that men can be just as moody as women, except with men it isn't limited to just a couple of days..........  :-*

I'm unclear on the time duration.  with men, at least alpha males, it seems to be a few minutes, not days.

on the other hand, i've known men that have held grudges for years, myself included, although i would have to say they are extremely targeted and directed at people who have lost my trust and won't put myself in a position where i have to trust them.

We had a heifer in the barn being fed for show, and she always came into heat in the middle of the month(somewhere between the 10th-13th like clockwork). A cow in the pasture being held for breeding for an april/may calf always went into heat the very beginning of the month. We put them together and in with the bull. the heifer had her calf on the last day of april this year, and the cow had her calf on the 1st day of may not even 8 hours later. Coincidence??
