What are the thoughts on putting rings in a bull's nose? We've always ringed (grammar?) our bulls. Some because they've been shown or sold & that's the requirements. Most because of handling choices.
I was told once by a person that she wouldn't buy a bull w/ a ring in his nose because she felt it was a sign of a mean bull? ??? I guess I've looked at it as a saftey issue.
What are your thoughts? If you ring, how soon?

in more of a commercial cattle country setting, the only bulls that have been "ringed" are bulls that have been shown or collected(semen) for an extended period of time - most of the collections studs don't even need or require a bull to have a ring for them to be collected any more. hydraulic chutes work wonders...but there are many other techniques as well.
