What is everyone's take on email e-blasts. How often to you open them, or do you just hit delete? It seems like I get so many now. Also, what companies are all doing this type of advertising service?

I get a bunch of them from Ranch House and Breeders world. I always open them and take a look at what they sent.

I delete a lot of them anymore.   I open a few of them if it is a sale or something I'm interested in.. but there are just so many that come.    How many do most get a day or week?  I'd say easily 20 a week.

I get a lot, I always take a look.  What bothers me is that it is almost always ad centric.  Also the frequency of of some can be a little too much.

I have not kept count but I expect I get 10 a day. I have had 8 so far today. If  I have time I take a look, and then delete, but only keep the ones from breeds I am interested in, for a second look. A very good way of advertising, but if we continue to get bombarded with the same increase we have seen in the last year, we all might be tired of them soon.

I think this is a great topic for two reasons

First I get a lot and I open all of them. Retain what interests me and I delete the rest.
Ranch House, Breeders World, Cattle Visions, Cattle Today and the list goes on.

Second reason I like this topic is that
------ I send them to many people      "ecom by ULURU"  or    "Uluru ecom" ---------

What are some of your likes and dislike about the eblasts or ecoms that you receive.
How can we make them better and not be a pest like much of the paper "junk mail " we receive.
If they are viewed as junk then we are defeating the purpose of trying to move to a more useful and effective paperless communication vehicle.

Your thoughts will be of great interest.

I am like a lot of others, I just delete most of them, seems like I get far too many.  If it's a breed or a breeder that I am interested in I will take a look.

Justintime,

In answer to your question, I wonder if it would help if you allowed people to be more specific about which breeds and which locations people wanted to get mailings from?  I know part of the selling point of some of these lists is that they will go to thousands of people but if word starts to spread that they are being looked at as junk mail who cares how many people are getting them.  People may be more interested if they know the lists are going to people that are specifically intersted in receiving mailing in regards to angus female sales 300 miles from their address.  That may only be 500 people but it would be 500 people that targeted that specific type of sale.

I receive my fair share of these emails, and probably the most annoying thing to me is getting multiple emails on the same sale. Sale managers and breeders need to pick just one outfit to send out their email blasts.  I also like the idea of creating regions to receive blasts from, and maybe even breed specific.  I hate getting blasts about pig and lamb sales in Iowa, when I live in Texas and raise neither.
