It depends on which side you tattoo, all of our tattoos are in the left so we tag in the right, we take the tags out before they are shown.

we tag heifers in left ear and bulls in right ears than they can be tattooed in the opposite ear

to be honest with you, i have never really cared mostly because if you have a crossbred calf here in ohio, it gets a tag if you are in the best program and if you are showing at a county fair, then you probably have another tag for that too. i would say non show side though but i really think it doesn't matter.

We cut the tags out of our calves ears before they're shown. But we tag ours in the left ear (standing beside them) anyway though.

Heifers got one in their left and bulls got one in each Im not to sure why but thats what the boss said.

we do heifers left, bulls right. simply because we bangs right ear, makes like easier... plus vet said to do it that way.. lol
