We have a group of 3 open heifers and 3 bred heifers coming ~15 hours next week with the breds exposed for March calves. Would it be worthwhile to get some electrolyte powder for putting in the water trough when they arrive? It's a large Ritchie free-stall trough that holds ~40 gallons.

What prompted thought?
I was thinking through what I needed to do for preparation, one thing being washing out the trough. That made me think about differences in water taste since ours is higher in Iron. I figured if the water is going to taste strange either way, couldn't hurt to put a packet or two in there? Also thinking about making sure their bodies can get back to "normal" as quickly as possible since they are so late-gestation at this point.
