Is anyone else ready to explode over the fact that a few renegades in a lifeboat have essentially locked-up the entire United States Navy?  Now they hijack a U.S. tug boat this morning!!!!!!

Let's see, how many days ago would Ronald Regan have settled this little issue?    It's driving me freaking nuts.

When I heard that it was not the US policy to negotiate with any kidnappers I was disgusted.

I'm a big fan of Reagan but it's sort of strange that you would mention him the way you did.

Iran-Contra was part of hostage situations that went on for well over a year.  Hezbollah took quite a few American hostages during the 80s.

There's a lot to like about Reagan but if the Somalian pirates are driving you nuts after a few days, your head would have exploded during his administration.

You are talking about the hostage situation that was resolved when Reagan was elected but that wasn't the source of the Iran-Contra affair and it was far from the only hostage situation during the 80s.  There were so many hostage situations during that time period that it's easy to mix them up.

Iran-Contra, including the original kidnapping of the hostages, took place at the end of Reagan's first term.  American hostages were regularly taken hostage in Lebanon at the time.

I'd have to research that again. Did a paper on it in college. Rescue went array early because of choppers going down in a sandstorm I believe.

Yeah, something like that doomed it, I don't remember what.  The hostages they were trying to rescue ended up being freed a few minutes after Reagan took office.  Unfortunately, that was only the beginning of the hostage situations of the 80s.

Yeah. They just happened to not be freed until Reagan won the election. Reagan didn't have a lot of friends in organized labor.  I pay for his presidency every two weeks on payday

I don't know why anyone would be embarrassed and ashamed tonite.   The only dissappointment is there is only 3 dead pirates instead of 4.  If they all could of kept there mouths shut they should have fed the live one to the sharks.

I didn't figure the Navy would stand there and let some pee-head take pot shots at them for very long.

Kind of tells you how stupid those terrorists really are in most ways. They are high on arrogance, but very low on common sense if you ask me.

I didn't notice what took place Farwest, was busy today so haven't checked the news, what went down?? Sounds like they stomped em pretty good though -- sharks have to eat too right??

Don't know about any one else, but unlike the now Pres Obama -- I don't BOW to any one -- well meybe my wife, but that's another story!
