I'm not Cowboy but I may be able to answere a few questions. If you really want to do this, becoming a vet is almost a must anymore with the drug issue. Most of what is used must be bought with a prescription from a licenced vet. Also if you want to do any exporting a clean and dirty lab is needed and needs to be inspected from the embryology association(I think, I know someone must say its OK). The export papers must be singed by a vet. Also be ready for long hard days and miles and miles of driving. This is not a 9 to 5 job. I sometimes meet my guy at midnight after he has flown home for somewhere so he can implant a cow from a natural heat.

all above seems accurate... on the up side the cattle are probably higher quality ... upper 10%.. I think a lot of the owners would be also but have heard some wild stories about show people

Frosty, Mark and Tom are both vets and are certified by the AETS. I used to be up until 1990 or so when they changed that rule.

You are also correct in saying that it had become predominatly a VET procedure, but ONLY due to thier locking up the drugs we all use. I buy all my supplies from licensed vets -- especially all the RX drugs. This keeps me legal and every one is happy!

31 years in any business will teach you more than any school could possibly do -- so if I can help any one -- don't hesitate to ask. I don't know every thing there is to know, but I have aquired a whole bunch of scars over the years from DOIN IT!

Good luck -- as they saif, be prepared for a long learning curve with lots of pit falls, but once you do get there -- it will all be worth it!
