Extra Leather/ sweat question

When should we start putting a sweat on a calf that has "extra" leather?  We are planning on showing him in Jan. at the prospect show in Denver and a few in between Denver and county fair.

What is the best sweat to get, ie) which one works the best.

I would start now, I just started puting one on my heifer monday.

Sullivan's said the neoprene is the best for when they are tied up, the leather for when they are loose.

When u use the neoprene make sure its on good because we have had problems with them tearing them up easily.
