Feed for hair

This has probalby been discussed before...but...What do you think about feeding steers feed that can "burn" hair, or prevent good hair growth?  True/Not true?  What do you all recomend feeding to steers to get them finished and keep hair?

very true some rtaions will burn it off. for finishing cattle and keepng hair feed a ration with a barley base (welcome)

A really hot ration will burn off hair sometimes. Too much protein or fat can be the cause.
Keep the ration well balanced, don't add too many goodies to it & you should be fine.

i woul dconsider a ration with 60% corn in the summer a hot ration not super but sorta, but during the winter feeding a 60% ration is just fine IMO

generally a hot ration is one w/ lots of corn & extra fat. Too much fat can also burn hair. also some feed addadtives like OptiFlex can burn hair.
