Alrighty folk, got us a couple of mini hereford heifers for my kiddos. When I say a couple about 5  (lol), between my father and myself we sure do like to get back ups for the back ups just in case the ones we are going to show have plenty of back ups  (lol). But my question is, when feeding a mini do you feed the same as I would a standard size? Just looking for opinions and really like a good discussion. O0

I would have assume you feed them the same way. If you base the amount of feed off of body weight, 3% is 3%, If a 900 pound heifer needs to consume 27 pounds (hay and feed)a day, a 400 pound mini would need 12 pounds a day, that would be my assumption.

In my experience with minis they can go one of two ways. They will either gain weight on air and have to be managed very carefully to keep them fresh or they will be the pickiest eater you've ever seen and will be an art just keeping them on feed
