I was just wondering if any other steer planet members enjoy fishing. We just got back from a quick trip to Port Aransas and were able to go out bay fishing. Would love to hear stories or see pictures from any other members! The picture's attached are of my biggest catch for the day, a 26" red fish.

I'm a catfisherman.  Love it..... can't get enough.  Flatheads, blues, or channels I just love catching catfish.  I've even fished a few catfish tournaments.  The biggest I've caught were a 47 lb blue on rod & reel, a 44 lb flat on rod & reel, and numerous cats in the 30 to 40 lb range.  It's really addicting.  I turn loose all the cats over 20 lbs I catch, and that really draws some stares at crowded fishing holes. DFSC,
My family frequently fishes both Rockport and Port O'Connor.  Had been hearing that fishing in Rockport area was slow, has it picked up any?  Our last trip to Port O resulted in a lot of undersized with only a handfull in the cooler.  My husband is going with friends this weekend.  My family loves fishing the coast!  We do a lot of wade fishing.  Your picture makes me hungry!!!

We have a smorgasbord of fishing around here, Largemouth bass in the lakes, the ocean we get yellow tail, ma hi ma hi, albacore, yellow fin, blue fin, calico bass, sand bass, white sea bass, and then all the bottom fish. Every August, off to the Sierras for rainbows and browns.

Thanks guys for all the replies!
SlickTxMaine- We went over to Shamrock Cove between Port A and Aransas Pass and we caught a lot of fish, but not many keepers. Every time we stopped somewhere over there we were catching reds and trout. The reds were on avg. 16-18" and the trout were pretty darn close to keeping size. It's the best luck we've had in a while. Good luck to your husband I hope he can bring some in!
Jlingle- Those catfish sure can put up a fight! They are alot of fun to bring in! Have any pictures?

Those are some big catfish!!! We love to fish for rainbows(trout that is), up at my uncles spring fed pond, they really thrive in there. Everyone once in a while you'll catch a bluegill for the pan or a big ol bass for the "bass only pond", because they eat the smaller bluegill up like crazy!!!

Thanks.  I caught every one of those on a rod & reel.  The picture with me and my buddy holding the 47 lb blue, the fish looks really gant.... notice all the wet stuff on my overalls.  That fish was really full when I caught him, and while trying to weigh him, he puked all down the front of my shirt and overalls.  I look drunk as cooter brown in the picture, but that's me trying not to vomit!!! LOL.

I've been fishing for Bass, Catfish, and Bream since I've been big enough to hold a pole. We farm so we have numerous ponds to fish in. The last couple of years I've been going down to Islamorada in the FL Keys to fish. This place is awesome and you have the opportunity to catch around 50 species of fish there. On my last trip I caught 7 different species. We did a Swordfish drop in 1500ft of water which was very exciting even though we didn't get a bite. It took 8 minutes to get the bait to the bottom with around 15 lbs of weight on it. There are some huge Flathead cats east of me on the Altamaha river for you guys that may like to venture down south sometime. They catch those guys on live bream.

Jlingle- Those are some awesome pictures! I can't imagine how hard it is to reel those heavy suckers in! Thanks for sharing those pictures with us!
Shortdawg- That sounds awesome! I might be planning a trip over there, but I'm afraid that I might like it to much and not come back!  ;D

I saw a TV program on not long ago about guys in OK "noodling" for big catfish. Never mentioned their IQ or anything, but they all made it pretty easy to guess. Come to think of it.......... Jlingle looks awfully familiar............................ ;)
