Do it right by all means! The five day doesn't work unless two protaglandin shots are given 8 hours apart.

That is not true. Research has shown minute statistical differences  between giving the shots 8 hours apart or at the same time. I give them the two injections of Lutalyse at the same time and have great luck. I breed of natural heats until 72 hours, then time breed anything left with an injection of GnRH.  This is where I see the biggest difference, as compared to the 7 day protocol. More of the non responders settle.
Thats what we do, two shots at the same time.  And we have fantastic luck!  Did a small group this week that way.  Three of the four showed fantastic heats at the 60 hour mark so we bred them at 72 hours along with the cow that did not show heat.  She felt great when I got nher and had good clear drainage even with out showing visible signs of heat.  She has settled before on TAI with this protocol without showing. As with every cow we AI they all got a shot of GNRH when we bred them.

It works!

We're having trouble getting cows to come into heat this year anyway! It's frustrating but even with the CIDR's on our AI group we had too many non-responders. I guess they haven't cycled since they calved. We used the 7 day protocol. It's a good thing we improved our herd bulls this year!
