During p.m. pasture check today I saw a 9 day old heifer calf swinging her tail rapidly. She had flies (maggots) in the area under the tail. The insecticide spray can took care of them.
It seems late to have fly problems. We quit July calving partly to avoid screw worms. What is the latest you have seen this? Here in SW Indiana we have run our air conditioners almost every day since school started--hot, dry weather.
We also have more horn flies than usual. So far we have tried 4 different insecticides. The next step is StandGuard--have any of you used that?
