Just read an article in "Cattle Today" today that included these things. You know it's just a white plastic pan with water and dish washing detergent, right? The flies land on the surface and drown because the detergent breaks the surface tension of the water.

yeah i got that.  really what is happening, is that the flies are contrast viewers as well as co2 sniffers or something like that.  they don't see the clear part.  just wondered if anyone used one or a concept that is similar.

Is the concept the same when people put ziplock bags up with soapy water? I know a few barns with them and it seems to make some sort of a difference, but hard to say why.
