I have wanting to try to flush some of my better cows.  Can I do this without taking them out of production and if so when works best.  I calve in March/April.  Not sure when to flush as I know that if I send the cow somewhere to have this done that most places don't like the cows to have calves on them.  I would love to hear from all of you with more experience flushing cows.

We send the calf with the cow if she has one. Our ET company is set up for it.  We wait until our cows are 45 days post partium and work off the next heat and have had good results.  If you just flush once you can usually get the cow bred on the next heat to stay in production.  If you are calving in March/April that would likely put you flushing in June which would be too hot here in Texas.  Probably okay up north. Good luck.
