I got a deal on fly predators. It is a product to stop flies. Does it work? Is it just for around barns, horses, cattle, or what. I have never heard of say local feedlots using it. Will the igr mineral product hurt the fly predators? Product makes sense. Any one else use it?

i saw it in use at a local tie stall dairy fam a year or two ago.  I was amazed at the lack of flies and asked the owner what kind of fly control he used.  He was using the Fly Predator and was absolutely a fan of it.  50 cow jersey farm all in tie stalls and I think i saw about 5 flies during my 30 minute visit.  My wife has some ordered for mid april to use around the house.  I think you will find they work best in isolated, smaller areas.  I will let you know how it works around the house on 4 acres without any other animals within 1/2 mile.

I think we may try it in the show barn and calf pens this summer.  We can get some pretty bad flies, but between keeping the barns clean, and the Predator stuff, I'm hoping to keep them at bay.

We have been using Fly Predators for 3 years, they really work! We have about 60 head of cattle and we spread the fly predator eggs around the barns, water troughs, and manure piles. We also have a large chicken house where I raise rare breed chickens and guinea fowl. They are all free range so around the chix house I hang paper bags and put the eggs in them off the ground.Just so the birds don't eat the eggs and larvae.
I usually get about 50,000 and get a free bonus shipment, it is a little expensive but it is nice not being overwhelmed by flies!

Who carries this product?  Not many flies here in wyoming but some are still pests.

We have used them for a few tears and love them in the show barn.  The beams in the barn used to be just covered with flies and would just buzz when you turned the fans off at night.  Now with the predators we hardly ever see a fly in the barn and don't use any spray or bug foggers.  We get ours from Spalding Labs and have been very happy with the service.  You can check them out at    http://spalding-labs.com/

or 1-888-562-4552.  That reminds me, I better get ours reordered for the season.

Do you need to put them out more than one time per season?  In other words, how do you use them?

They are shipped in batches as needed for your region. They will start working about a month after you get them and keep working better as time goes on. It used to be that if you sat down you had better have a fly swatter even in the house and after using them for a while we don't see many flies at all. We have tried baits, rubs and foggers, but now use the predators and dust bags set up at water troughs using panels and gates at every trough. Dust bags because the predators won't affect all types of flies, they are targeted to specific types of flies
