Like many of you, I used to wear( almost exclusively) the Rockport "Umbwe Trail" hiker boot. They lasted longer than anything else ( leather musta been from a Red Angus cow, with a plus-16 Stayability EPD) I ever wore. Looked great with either pressed Wranglers or Khakis.
Unfortuneately, Rockport has dropped them from their line-up. Any of y'uns have any suggestions for a replacement?

I have problems with my feet/back and have tried a LOT of different footwear.  Last fall I bought a new pair of Twisted X boots.  The salesman put his life on the line when he told me that he guaranteed that they would be the most comfortable pair of shoes/boots that I ever wore.  I have heard that line so many times!  I bought a pair not just to prove him wrong but also because my feet were swollen and killing me.  I wore them out of the store and all day long.  There was no breaking in.  My feet felt so good the next day that I went back and told him how much I liked them.  I wear those boots ALL the time.  They are my favorite shoes.  I would recommend them to everyone.

I love my Twisted X lace up shoes....not like a boot, more like a dressy leather shoe. Lots of arch support and toe wiggle room (good for  my fat feet)!!
I also love my Ariat Terrains....I have them in regular, waterproof (really are too) and waterproof insulated. I wear them EVERYWHERE, in every condition, even pure water, mud and not exactly mud!! ;D

Plus neither one of these boots are expensive....Twisted X will run about $90 for the type I wear, or $180 for the traditional pull on cowboy roper.  Ariats will run $75 for the waterproof and $85 for the insulated....

If your feet ain't happy, ain't NOTHING happy!!!!  :)

I have worn Vasque Clarion GTX boots for decades and darn if they didn't stop making them for women - still make them for me - have a pair stashed in the closet (brand new) but don't know what I'll do when they are gone --- twisted x could be the ticket - tx

Now we're in my corner of the barn.  I sold all kinds of shoes and boots for over 25 years.  I've had them all, and sold them all.

DL - Red Wing Shoes purchased Vasque about 1980, and operated the company from Italy as always until just a few years ago.  All Vasque are now imported from the Pacific Rim.

GaryBob - Timberland makes probably the best all around shoes for walking and hiking.

Miller Harness Company came out with the first "Tennis" type shoe with a heel sometime in the late 80's.  They were called Heels Down.
Their Ariat Terrains are the closest things available now.  Great Shoes!  It all has to do with arch support.

I was never a big fan of Rockport, but have to admit their marketing was phenomenal.  Glad you had good luck with them.  Go get your self some Ariats or Timberland.

where do you get the Twisted X's? I need a new pair for Louisville. I have big wide feet & am sort of flat footed. I hate boots/shoes that are uncomfortable.

My husband has really bad feet, he had been wearing a Red Wing shoe but when the inner toe broke down and it was the only thing they can't fix he decided to try the Ecco, he just bought a pair of these about a month ago, he says they are the most comfortable show he has worn in years.  The man that sold them to us said they guarantee everything on this shoe if there is ever a problem they will fix or replace, they are Gore-Tex waterproof.  He likes the high top and tried on the ones with the stitching, but said he didn't care for those, I have attached a picture of the ones he bought, he is going back for a 2nd pair for nice.

I looked at the Twisted X boot. Really look nice but I think I'll wait until Louisvills so I can try them on. I hate buying boot on-line without seeing how they fit.
After getting my foot stomped on this weekend, I think I'm going to look for steel toed boots. How many waer steel toed?

I do when messing with new calves, or working cows.  They are alot heavier and take some getting use to.  Kneeling down takes some getting used to the way the hit your feet as well.
