Someone on SP was asking how to get started in club calves,i think that bull on some low set black angus cows would be a real good starting point.

Looks to have alot of grow-like the cattle from the 90s O0
He was born 10-21-11 and gained 3.44 lb per day on a test that ended 10-04-11. At 51" tall he frame scored 6.2. Attached is a pic right after weaning.

He would probably be too upright at both ends to work on anything with much Irish blood in it, or JPJ.  So i'm not sure where he'd work.  Maybe on some super soft, moderate cows with extreme flex.  Basically he would work on the same cows as the fullbloods worked on back when it was common practice to do so... 60's and then again in the late 80's/early 90's

While we're on the topic of full bloods, can anyone tell me about JDS FIREMAN *MA18350 - as far as type - strength/weaknesses?

If you are referring to the same JDS Fireman I'm familiar with, he was not a fullblood.  I believe he was a red, polled purebred sired by Power Plant.  Rocker Bros. Shorthorns used him some time ago.

Really nice looking bull.  Would love to have him to use on some 1/2 bloods.

What shorthorn bloodlines would he work on? The Trump, Solution deals? Canadian cows? A@T cattle types? He seems a tick to tall for me but that's splitting hairs. His ass looks thick. Good head. Can't tell if he is getting a crest?

Would he give you a heterosis kick worth anything breeding him shorthorn?

I would put him on Jpj stuff and other smaller stuff. To me, the Jpj have always been wasty made.

Perhaps Maines can once again put the but t and hiP in some shorthorns, this time without the bw from the fresh imports and have an alternative besides cunia/trump.

To me if trump is a shorthorn  it should t be too hard to make that percentage in a new package without the size and different genetics.

We have a full brother who also gained 3.44 that is polled in a little bigger package and  needs to be on feed a while longer to look his best as well as a Tidal Wave who gained 3.86 that is in the same situation. Our L3 Ipy is moderate with good bone and spring of rib but is not there yet. We brought our small framed light birth weight Kuda bull home to breed to 6 full blood heifers and 5 black cows.
