Here's a sales coming up with some interesting genetics. The Rose's have been breeding some great cattle for year's and you will often see a Gar-lind name in the pedigree of a good one. Some of their reference sires are Alta Cedar Lad 13N now at Bowman's and Saskvalley Roughneck 154R now back at Saskvalley. A reduction sale that offers some interesting opportunities!

I plan to be there for the sale. This is a good set of cattle.  We have one Gar-Lind cow in our herd and she is one of our latest donors. The first flush in this female sold in our sale last week to Waukaru. There are two maternal sisters to our cow in this sale. Here is a pic of our cow, Gar- Lind Madonna 22S. She is a daughter of HC Motivator 109M

I got tons of grass and hay is cheap all around me. Big squares 40/bale third cutting. Prolly wieghing around 1,000 to 1,200 bale. Only thing I am lacking is funds. Less than two years and I am out of debt. Then the fun can begin in ernest. If you want to buy her I will chip in on the purchase and feed her and she can come live with me and 329! Lots 14, 23, 43, 45, 54 all work for me. Some roans n there but good rips. 329 could make some }"{outcross}"{ genetics with these ladies. I just love that word "outcross" . Catchy ring to it.

I have missed my SP fix last few days, does this mean I have a addiction to cows and now SP??!!  Whats next?  Someone will tell me I have a addiction to Pabst Blue Ribbon. <beer>

I had the opportunity to meet Gary and Linda in 1999.They are good people.I purchased one of their Sindee's from Gussie and Faye but had to change the family name to Lindy as I already had an established Cindy cow family from the Forgey cattle.Here is a picture of one of my Lindys a couple of generations removed from that original cow.By the way that pasture she is grazing in is predominately fescue for all you Southern cattlemen.

How tall is she? How long is she? What does she weigh?

GB,52 1/2'',I would call her long bodied.I have never weighed her since her yrlg weight but based on some similar sized cows I shipped recently I would say she weighed aprx.1400 when that picture was taken.

The Gar-Lind sale was very strong today. I never heard an average but I am guesstimating it must have been i n the $2400-2500 range. Top lot was a bull calf 1A, at $4600 to Warner Ranch, Riverton, Wyoming. Top female was lot 40 at $4500 to Arthur Shorthorns in Indiana. The bred heifers and the heifer calves were a very strong set and they sold very well. Top bred heifer was lot 3 at $3900 to Bowman's from Indiana. I may be a bit partial, but I think I got the buy of the sale. They started the sale with lot 2, Frimley Rene Dottie 72R and I got her for $2500. I am pretty sure if this cow had been 10 down in the sale order she would have brought $4000 plus. She was one of my favorites in the entire sale. Cattle sold from Alberta to Nova Scotia in Canada and from California to Indiana in the US.

Cows and calves were individual lots with only one bull calf being an "A" lot with his dam. If the remainder of the calves had been "A" lots like is done in many sales. the sale average would have been considerably higher. This was a very good set of no nonsense, easy fleshing, good uddered cattle.

Hey JIT I'm pretty excited you got Frimley Rene Dottie 72R. She is one of the few if not the only linebred Deertrail Nitro cows around. Her dam went to town at 15 and her grandam at 16. The FrimleyJane Dottie cow you had was a maternal sister to her dam. She also has crosses of the Candy and Baroness cow families. We have a maternal sister to 72R by Legend at Hilltop's,Diamond Topaz Dottie 59T. Jacqueline brought 59T's Diamond Prophecy 21P bull calf home after your sale. If you ever put 71R in your flush program I would be interested!
