I attended this sale yesterday and I was very interested in the program.  I am not a simmental man and I don't know the pedigrees that well but the cattle were really good.  Now in regards to the showring I'm afraid most critters were as far as two generations from doing anything but as far as real world cattle goes they were impressive.  Maybe one of the best pb bulls I have ever seen sold as lot 1A and I think he brought $28,000.  Not that money determines quality but this dude was an absolute meatwagon, big topped thick ended, deep heeled, good legged, DIDNT pop in his pastern and had a decent head on him.

I would love to go to their sale one day. I did get to go through the Gateway herd several years ago, and I was also very impressed with the cow herd, the calves and the herd bulls. They do raise real world cattle, and we've used several Gateway bulls in our program that have worked very well for us. I'd use something out of that program over a show bull any day.

We have bought bulls from jimmy in the past and they are what have made our cow herd what it is today, we are very proud of the genetics he has to offer and he is by far one of the most knowledgable cattlemen i have ever met, yet down to earth

his cattle are the real deal and he does business right, they are not "show cattle" - so what... in American we still eat cattle and they sell by the pound

Watched just a little of the tail end of this sale & yes I thought the bulls were very good & were selling very well. Congrats to Gateway on a great set of bulls & a great sale.

I received a catalog from Jansen Sm last Friday. That set of bulls also look tremendous.

The only reason I put that they weren't show cattle is that I didn't want 20 comments about how they weren't cocky enough fronted or something like that.  I love cattle like Gateway that are real world, have muscle, and I don't have to hear on and on about why angus was put here by God and nobody should raise anything different.

The sale averaged $5850. That's incredible! We're having our inaugural bull sale in December and I'll do cartwheels if I get half that as a sale average.

I really liked lot 23, he sold for $17,500. I didn't get to watch the first few lots to see how they sold.
