has anyone used the "cattle carpet" type geo textiles  avaliable for large feed areas and high traffic  crossings ?  we are thinkng of useing it to make about a 30 X 30 area  to put our feeders on.  i know for sure its worth its cost for  drive ways and  making  wet spot areas ( flat) drivable .  but wasnt sure how it would truly stand up to heavy catttle traffic, manure scraping, ect. if anyone has any info id appreciate it.  the cost seems pretty reasonalble ( .50 sq ft vs. 1.50 sq ft for concrete).  thanks in advance.  i hate mud....jbarl

We have a 40 X 40 area with a permanent feeder that we did about 5 years ago and it has held up great.  We used a skid loader and dug the area out about 18 inches deep, then put about 8-10 inches of big rock, I think my husband said they were #2 size.  Covered with the carpet and then covered with lime.

About halfway through the feeding season, we scrape it off, in the spring we spread it on the field.  We love it.  Keeps them out of the mud.
