Giving Thanks, One Heck Of A County Show!!

First of all I want to congratulate my daughter, she works her tail off in the barn and deserves any and all awards she receives. She had Reserve Champion steer and heifer last week at our county show as well as steer and heifer Showmanship Champion.  As many of you know Chambero is one heck of a guy.  We had 2 head we bought from him in the show, one steer and one heifer.  The heifer was Continental Champion and reserve overall heifer.  The steer was British champion and came close to winning reserve overall.  Thanks to you and your Family for your support of Faith the last several years.

I also want to thanks Colby and Shellie Collins for the Reserve Champion Steer.  This was our third year buying steers from the Collins and they have all turned out really nice.

Steer is a Troubadour and the heifer is a Monopoly.

Thanks to all the hard working cattle breeders out there trying to put Champion cattle on the halter for our kiddos.  (clapping)

First and foremost, CONGRATULATIONS!  I am very happy for you, and I know that you are proud.

I wanted to take a second and point out something to some people on here that you have either figured out, or taken for granted.

Loyalty!  When you find a producer that you trust, and their cattle do well for you, KEEP GOING BACK!  This is a business, and business is about relationships and products.  There are Ford, Chevy, and Dodge people out there.  They are all good, but they are not all good for everyone.  Cattle are the same way.  Some producers cattle just do better in certain settings and environments.  That is just the way it is.  When you find the combination that works, then keep going back. 

The producer knows you.

The producer knows how you feed.

The producer knows how you show.

The producer knows your level of commitment.

The producer knows his cattle, and he knows which ones are going to "fit" you.

Nobody and I mean NOBODY wants you to win as bad as the producer wants you to win.

The producer will absolutely, without question, with no exceptions, reward a family that can just plain "GET IT DONE".

And for the record, I don't know any of the people in this post.  I see the names from time to time, but I have never met any of them.  I am not from TX, although I hear they play a little football down there?  What I do know is that Chambers and Collins are where I am putting my money as the favorites to fill this little girls show barn for next year!

Loyalty does pay off......or maybe I have no idea what I am talking about?

Congrats on your success!  I have bought 2 from chambers and would recomend him to anybody.  Without a doubt one of if not the best seller I have dealt with in my over 20 yrs in this industry.  Good cattle, raised right, priced right, and treats you fair!!!

Loyalty goes both ways. For anyone trying to get started selling, you have to get them in the hands of good feeders.  A family like the Fletchers is an asset to anyone that wants to see their calves do well

I thought some of you who aren't used to seeing them shown slick might like to see the steer.
We have a 5% weigh back at our county.  I turned him in at 1336 and showed him at 1390.

Attached is the picture of Faith's Monopoly heifer as a baby before she was weaned.  It's my understanding she beat a top heifer from one of the very prominent club calf breeders in Iowa that had what was probably a very expensive one in their county.  I'm kind of proud when one ours pulls that off.

I didn't get any cell phone pics of her at show but moma has some on her camera.  Here are a couple I shot at the barn about halfway through clipping here.  What really brought her to the top in the drive was how well she travels.  she is a Sept. born bred to calve this Sept. to Mr Driven.  By the way Harlan Yokum judged the steers and the heifers and everyone was pleased with him.  He is invited back to judge next year.

We had Harlan judge the Missouri State University Bear Classic Jackpot Show a few years ago and were extremely pleased. He is quick and to the point, great on the mic and picked the best cattle.
