Golden Child or I am legend

Ropy, have you seen some nice calves out of I am Legand? I didn't personally care for him in Denver last year and especially in his working clothes at Hawkeye!

I dont really liek i am legend seen him at stud last year and he toes out BAD.  he's just hairy and wide, if thats all you care about go for it

I think the golden childs wil be a bit more complete. They will also be a larger framed calf then the I am Legend calves. They will also probally be a tad more sound. I think I am legend is just another heat wave son that is pretty small framed.

I had a Golden Child heifer last year and really like her. She was one of the fastest growing heifers I have ever raised. At weaning she out gained all the heifers by 87 lbs.

I think the golden childs wil be a bit more complete. They will also be a larger framed calf then the I am Legend calves. They will also probally be a tad more sound. I think I am legend is just another heat wave son that is pretty small framed.

i think that is some pretty good advice. i wouldn't try and down size with golden child because a friend told me that when they saw him at stud he was a whole lot bigger than what they expected. there are alot of heatwave sons out there and in my own personal opinion, i wouldn't want to breed to a heatwave son that toes out a whole lot because heatwave toed out enough for me.

i have only seen 7 I am legend calves in person this spring. NONE were very impressive. These calves were out of cows that have been really good producers from Golden Child, Money Shot and Friction in the past. Not saying he might not end up being a LEGEND,just reporting what I have seen. Have seen A LOT of calves this spring,and some damn good one's at that. Have seen some good Heatwave's, which is expected, some decent Frictions, some good Money Shots,some really good Dirt Hairy females. Now hang on to your hat as the VERY BEST calves as a whole have been out of TYCOON. The calves I have seen out of him[Tycoon] are on cows of various breeding,various sizes,and mixed colors. He seems to be working pretty good. Have been told repeatedly that some folks think his brother N CHARGE might even out produce Tycoon. Guess we'll have to wait on that prediction.

Good post TMJ.  I have also heard from someone I trust that the Legand calves weren't very impressive at all!  I am hearing the same good things about Tycoon as well!

I've got two calf crops with quite a few Golden Childs and he didn't work that well in my herd.  I've had some pretty good heifers - one of which we are showing this year - but none of his steer calves cracked our top 5 calves either year.  Never had any calving problems or disasters with them, just not quite good enough on our cows in my opinion.

IN order of my preference this what I liked the best [1] TYCOONS [2] MONEY SHOT[3]MONOPOLY [4] SMOOTH SAILING [5]HEAT WAVE. You can probably reverse these at some places. I'm only listing these in this order cause I seen more good one's in this order. The very best individuals that I have visually seen are[1] TYCOON Daughter [2]Irish Whisky Son [3]Smooth Sailing son [4] Heatwave son and [5]a Dirty Harry daughter. I really like the calf that Brad Hook posted of My Turn.All in all the Tycoon's as awhole were hand's down the best group.Have seen a lot of very good calves,out of various bulls.

Out of all the Paddy, alias, hairy, wazn't me and GC calves i have had I love the golden child calves the most. I havent had any problems with birthweights either. He is definately going to see a lot more use from this year. JMO
