OK, so my daughter bought an Angus pair from a dispersal sale (Graham Angus in OK) over Labor day. Paid very little for the cow and calf. The cow is a 6 year old TC Freedom by Blackbird cow and huge framed for an Angus (mind you, we are used to Simmi's, not Angus!). The calf was advertised as a BC Big Daddy, and was born right before the sale (she was just a few days old), true to the AI date (we even call her "Little D" for her daddy's name). She is little, our 30 day 3/4 blood simm bull calf is as big as the Angus calf (who is 60 days old). So, today we get the papers on the calf (still waiting for the papers on the cow!), and her papers say she is a SAV Pioneer, not a BC Big Daddy as advertised. We bought the pair to use for breeding to simm bulls for half bloods and hoped the heifer will grow and be a possible show calf for the girls. So at first I was mad. But after looking up information on Pioneer, I think we might be better off. So, what happened? All I can figure is they DNA'd the calf and found out someone used the wrong straw??? Anyway, after reading information about Pioneer, she might just grow? I took a pic with my phone of her today, not the best but you see what she is. The second photo is the 30 day old 3/4 blood Mo Better bull calf. They are the same size...
