We went to a JD meeting last night. Of course machinery using GPS is a big topic. We've used it here on the farm for a couple of years. After kinks are worked out it has worked great.
I know my sister's family also uses it when they go geochaching & a lot have it in their vehicles.

Was just curious on how many use it & for what or in what? you can vote for more than 1 thing.

Only use it hunting.  Go to alot of "walk-in only" areas.  Wouldn't enter some spots without it!

Use it when traveling to the pan handle.  Use it at work to measure large areas.  Just signed up for Google new Latitude program.  Real neat.  Keep track of me on my Blackberry.  Need to install it on my teenagers phone now.

I have it in my GMC Yukon as part of Onstar's "Directions and Connections" plan.  I don't have a stand-alone model so only use it in the vehicle. I do love it, however!

Bought a yield monitor with GPS in 1994.  Most of it actually worked in 1995.  It has come a long way since then.

The info is great it is just a matter of what you do with it on the farm.  If you can make imporvements in management, that increase profitability.

Or it can just be a cool toy to let it drive the tractor and amke fancy maps.

It depends on you goals.

Have had a Yield Monitor with GPS since about 95, it's super useful for knowing what fertilizer we need where on our fields, saves us from having to do an entire field when it wasn't necessary.  Have also used GPS with friends when we've traveled to shows that are quite a distance and are in big cities. They're also pretty handy for finding restaurants and places of interest while on a trip.

I've used one before while hunting. Our GPS unit allows you to store in locations, so while we're out scouting for ducks or deer, we'll save locations that we see animals. Once the season opens we can scroll through the list and get directions back to those spots.

have one in the truck, use it when we travel to find restaurants, gas stations (mainly truck stops, always seem to be towing a trailer) hotels, just about indispensable, with it and a cell phone we have no trouble finding anyplace we need to anywhere we go.

I have AT&T Navigator in my cell phone and use it all the time.  It has great features including finding the cheapest diesel or gas within driving distance form where I am, the usual driving directions to where ever and a directory for anything you want.  I didn't think I would use it at first but i use it quite often.
