Hair Growth: What works?

What is the best conditioner to use? I have heard good things about Revive and Kleen Sheen. Any thoughts on this?
Also which is better Shag or Grow and Shine?
How many times a day should we rinse our steers? Should we blow them out afterward or leave them to dry under the fan?
Any comments or advice is appreciated.

I can't help you with the supplement information, because I've never fed any.  I might try some this year, though, so I'm interested in the responses you get.  There are also a few other threads active right now discussing the various supplements.

As far as rinsing, that depends on how hot and/or humid it is.  Temperatures where I live have been high 60's to low 80's lately, so I have been rinsing once or twice a day.  Today it rained all day, so I didn't rinse at all.  This is my son's calf, and he does afternoon rinsing.  We always use a comb or massage brush on him while he's wet, then blow him out.  We do that to train the hair he does have.  Then we usually use a rice root brush all over him.  I know that helps the hair stay healthy, and I've heard that it stimulates hair growth.  After the brushing, we usually use sheen (check out the Hall of Fame board--I think it's called Mixing Kleen Sheen and Vinegar or something like that--for information on various products to try).  I use Revive occasionally, usually before I turn him out on the days that he gets a full bath.

I agree with Segersmom, brush brush brush.  Nothing grows hair like stimulating the hair with  a rice root brush.  We like to use 1/2 Kleen Sheen, 1/4 Mane and Tail and 1/4 laser Sheen.  Everyone has their own recipe.  The rinsing  is important, but remember that some water has iron or other minerals in it and can dry the skin and hair.  That is why it is important to put back into the hair.  No matter what product you use or what recipe you use, nothing replaces time on the end of a brush.  When we blow them we don't dry them entirely, just leave them a little damp to help keep them cool.

Thanks everyone for the tips. Our fair is July 10th, we are going to put them up in a cooler barn and put them under fans soon. We use mane & tail and laser sheen on our horses. I was debating whether to try it on our steers but didn't want their hair to fall out or something crazy!  (lol)
I have an Angus steer (growing hair on them isn't fun) and my brother has a Shorthorn. I will post photos of them soon, I hoping to clip my steer this weekend for fun.

M&T and Laser Sheen both work fine on cattle.  If you check out the Hall of Fame discussion Mixing Kleen Sheen and Vinegar, it lists all kinds of concoctions that include Laser Sheen and/or M&T.  Good luck to you and your brother!
