This all started two weeks ago.  It started as a little spot just under this heifer's right ear.  I treated it like it was ringworm and it didn't seem to help.  So I called up my boss, who is a vet, and she told me to get something that kills lice and mange mites.  It itched a lot so that's what she thought it was.  I bought Incextrin X concentrate from Orschlens, I put it on her everyday.  It wasn't helping so I went back to the clinic tonight and talked to my boss, showed her these pictures, she said to get a skin scrap and bring it into work tomorrow.  She has no idea what it is and she used to show cattle herself.  I have no idea what this is or what to do about it.  Our fair is July 23-30 so that leaves little time to get this issue fixed.  I am despriate for some help and fast.  Any and all advice will be greatly appriciated.

Have you used a drench wormer yet on her? It really looks like lice too me. It's hard to tell with the stuff on the spots. Let us know what you find out from the skin scrape.

I have not used any drench wormer on her at all. She is in a stall all the time away from harmful things cause she is a mischevious little bugger.  I keep an eye on her all the time to make sure she doesn't get into anything, and I will not let anyone touch her,  (lol), so that stuff like this will not happen, guess that went out the window.  Sorry bout the blue stuff, it is there to keep the flies off so she won't end up with maggots on top of all this.  I will defently keep everyone posted on the situation.

Took the skin scraps into work today and my boss confirmed that is not ringworm, lice or mange.  We are going to do a culture to see if it is some sort of fungus or staph infection.  My boss did give me some Draxxin to give her this evening. We will see what this will do.  Thanks for all the posts.

Not sure what it is but we have had some spots that kinda look like that we used Vectricin gel 2-3 times a day and had hair coming back in little over a week.

With your show coming up I would probably be trying a "shotgun" type treatment! ;)  Scrub the areas good with betadine or chlorhexidine soap, treat for ringworm (spray with fluid film) and use a good pour-on like Cydectin.  Maybe an antibiotic too.  I would do the betadine/chlorhexidine and fluid film daily for a few days.  Also, I would clean all the halters, brushes, etc. daily that have been used on her so you don't keep spreading whatever it is.  GOOD LUCK!!

I have treated it for ringworm, scrubbing the piss out of it with iodine and then lathering it up with athletes foot cream.  My boss told me to stop doing that cause it is obviously not working.  Took some samples last night and put in a petri dish to see if I can grow anything.  Also gave her 12cc of Draxxin last night.

Looks like a bad case of warts to me.  They are caused by a virus and are very contagious.  You can give her a vaccine for warts but they will probably clear up on their own with no long term damage.  Just takes time.
