Help! Feed lot calf!

I have just a regular feed lot calf that I would like to show this June. He is 1000+ lbs, red fine hair, and heavy boned. Does anyone know any good feeds I should try on him? Better ways to build muscle? And the best ways and products to get nice thick hair? THANKS!

You will need to start rinsing him daily, get 2 rice root brushes, the second one is so you have one ready when you wear the other out. As far as feed, I would look at a good finisher, something with 11 to 12% protein and 5 percent fat. I would put him on Stabilized Rice Bran @ a pound a day. There are supplements that will help add muscle but if he is not carring enough fat they do not really help you with a finished product.

Hopefully you have him broke to lead at this point. You are alright on weight. Vc has some great ideas for feeding. The search function on this sight is very good. I even go back and read things for refreshers.

Here are three pictures, they arent very good but they might help. He is on a 12 percent feed and full hay supplement/mineral feed.... should i take him off that?? yes he is boke to lead. THANKS!!
